Well, Jack experienced his first snowfall this week in Salt Lake City, Utah. The temperatures in Utah now range between 20 degrees Fahrenheit and 45 degrees Fahrenheit each day.
We are both looking forward to our trip to Orlando in a few days. The weather will be more like Costa Rica and we will see the Atlantic Ocean and the central part of Florida where Orlando is located!

Hello CEC World Explorers,
On Thursday, November 13th Jack and I went to the American Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org/) location near my home in Salt Lake City so the I could donate a pint of blood. It gives me a good feeling that my one little blood donation will help others who have illnesses or have been in accidents. I think it is an important thing to do if you can.
Jack did really well watching, as you can tell by the photo!

We are still in Pennsylvania, USA, visiting with my family. This is the first photo of Jack and little Ian (6 days old!).

Hello Costa Rican friends,
Here is a photo of Jack and me back in Utah, USA where I live. Jack came with me today to bike ride on a causeway across The Great Salt Lake to Antelope Island State Park. (That is the island in the background of this photo.) The entire island (~ 20 K north to south) is a protected area that has a large American Bison population, hiking trails, marina, nature center, camp ground and an actual working ranch. http://www.utah.com/stateparks/antelope_island.htm
The Great Salt Lake (http://www.utah.com/stateparks/great_salt_lake.htm) is one of the most asked-about tourist destinations in Utah. A remnant of the massive ancient Lake Bonneville, the lake is now landlocked and its waters are salty. It is the largest lake between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean, and is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere. If you look at a map of Utah in the western part of the United States you will clearly see this massive lake in the state's northeast corner.
Jack and I will be busy the next few days in Salt Lake City so I will be sending more updates soon!

Hello CEC World Explores, Jack and I went to Mrs. Wildman's (my former college roommate) third grade class on Friday, October 2, 2009. We spoke to 40 third graders about you and the country of Costa Rica. The children loved learning about the fact that at your school you learn to speak in English and in Spanish. They just learn in English. They were very interested in the fact that the people of Costa Rica value and preserve their nature beauty, animals, flowers and plants. I told them that I have been on two hiking vacations to Costa Rica and that I went there because of the Eco-Tourism that you share with the world. Most of the students had never heard of a canopy tour (zip-line) and weren't even too familiar with what a volcano is! I taught them how to say, "Pura Vido" and tico and tica! Their school is called Trinity West and it is an elementary school that has about 500 students up to the sixth grade. Hello everyone,

I am now the proud owner of a beautiful Capuchin Monkey who I would like to refer to as Happy Cappy from now on!I live in the state of Utah, USA but I am currently in the state of Pennsylvania, USA waiting for the birth of my first grandson!Happy Cappy and I will be traveling buddies for the next 5 months and we expect to go Niagara Falls, (USA & Canada sides), northern and southern Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada and Orlando, Florida (home of Mickey Mouse!).I'll be back in touch soon!
